I have been eating at Tequilas in Harrisburg Illinois and Marion since mid 2006. My preference is the ensalada de taco, the salad made with a large crispy tortilla and grilled chicken; I like to add the green habanero sauce. Nearly all of their dishes are very good. The cooks come from places like Guatemala, El Salvador or Mexico. Yea...authentic. If you are a really picky eater or one of those people that have never been to Central America you might think the meat greasy. People do not realize that latinos traditionally cook with grease made from animal fat (lard) or other kinds of cooking oil. You can ask them to use olive oil if that is your style. They have several authentic deserts but my favorite is the FLAN custard. I like it with a shot of Kahlua on top. My kids prefer the caramel sauce. They have various beers but they also serve several of the Bacardi Rums. 1873 Solera (up to three years old) is my favorite which is not often found in the local liquor stores here. They serve some of the local wines too. Southern Illinois is known for its abundant and excellent wineries. Tequilas has bar to separate the serious drinkers from the family types that monopolize the front of the restaurant. Everyone speaks English but you may want to try out your Spanish!
